Back To The Grind

We just returned from a week in Florida. I heard things were pretty wet back here in the Northeast. As we boarded the plane at Logan we could hear sleet bouncing off the plane, and when we landed in Orlando, it was in the upper 80's. My lord did that sun feel good on the skin. I wish I could send everyone of my friends away someplace warm for a week.

First things first. Not a big fan of Orlando. Too much "ugly America" for me. Can't stand the crowds, the noise, the lights, the artificial Disney "magic" that costs and arm and a leg. We did it once when the kids were younger, but we are done. We'd rather spend our time where it isn't crowded, and where there is a pool. We headed away from Orlando and towards Tampa Bay. The family goal was to swim, and to eat an ice cream every day. And that's exactly what we did.

Oh, Scooter. Dear, sweet, 'what the he** were you thinking, taking the family to Orlando over April vacation' Scooter. Now, just so you know, I happen to own a piece of the 'magic', so I'm a bit biased. But I'll take Space Mountain, Rock N'Roller Coaster, Big Thunder Railroad, etc. *anyday* over frying my Irish skin to a crisp on a FL beach!
Granted, two of the main draws for me to Disney World are the giant Mickey-head shaped Krispie treats slathered in chocolate, and the ginormous ostrich, I mean turkey, legs for $5 (yes, my stomach does determine where I vacation at times).
Hey, I understand that sometimes the 'magic' is tough to see amongst the screaming toddlers, screaming parents, and the hour long waits for a 2 1/2 minute ride, but IMHO, I'd rather be waiting in line for Peter Pan at WDW than waiting anywhere in RI for anything.

No more dissing my Dis! :) Sarah

P.S. Chris totally agrees with you, by the way. :)~
