Throws Lefty
Danny's baseball league began with coaches pitching to batters. After 6 games, the kids are allowed to pitch, a maximum of 2 innings per pitcher. Danny was the Rockies' starter for the first game and did very well. He struck out 4, and made a couple of nice plays in the field. All his pitches were around the strike zone.
Bats Righty
He also went 4-4, including a couple of hits with the bases loaded. (Chris, you will appreciate that Danny did not wear his batting gloves. I never said a word to him, but apparently he decided he's more comfortable without them)
Runs Like The Wind
I was updating the score sheet when I heard one of the parents yell "bees!" Danny was playing shortstop at the time, and I yelled "run!" as a cloud of thousands of bees came out of left field (literally) and swarmed over 2nd base. Danny was off like a shot. Thankfully the bees weren't angry. Some flew among us but nobody was stung, and they flew off into the woods to find a new home. My heart was going as fast as Danny's feet.
