I've Been Framed!

The frame is assembled, and while I still need to do some shoring up in parts, it is done. You may notice it looks slightly different this year - not as symmetrical. The side near the chiminea extends out an additional 4 feet to make the rink a little wider. That's as far as I can go - I have maxed out my yard. I can't make the end boards any wider as they would be jutting out on the driveway - proof that even I know when to stop.

On that one 2x12 that juts out on an angle, I am going to put some 2 foot high plywood sheets on top. Last year I had a problem with sand blowing up the driveway from the road and over the 2x12's on to the rink. The half boards (in the background of this picture leaning up against the frame after being painted) should be high enough to prevent that from happening again (he typed hopefully).

I owe a giant THANK YOU to my neighbor Jim for his brain, truck, and tools.

Yes!!! A new entry and construction continues. Good idea to minimize the imposing sand - you are such a clever boy. I can hardly wait to see the progress up close and personally.

It all seems like so much work to a slightly older person like me, but the family gets such enjoyment that it is definitely worth it.

Keep updating on a regular basis now that I am getting better at visiting your site.
