Merry Christmas Baby

My sister Kim called me from Switzerland this morning. While on the phone with her I looked out at the rink and realized that, despite all the rain and near 50 degree temperatures, it looked like things froze solid overnight.

After some careful investigating, I had Danny go out for the 07/08 maiden skate in his new Chelmsford practice jersey.

He had no problems so I decided to put mine on too. I put a skate through the top layer of ice in the real deep end (behind Danny's butt in this picture). No damage to the liner though. Phew.

The sun started to peek through and the temps got above freeing quickly. Ice reacts so quickly - and so did we, getting off immediately.

We skated for about a half-hour total. It was very unexpected, but it felt great. The forecast doesn't look good through January so we are very grateful for the time we got this morning.
