Lost 6-4
Tournament Record 0-3.
Another tough one. Groton is a team that Chelmsford was 1-0-4 against during the regular season so they always are a good team to play and are evenly matched. The kids seemed tired for this one - 4 games in 48 hours will do that. But, they went down trying and are playing their best hockey of the season. They have lots to feel good about.
There is a girl on Danny's team named Sophie who is small and is almost frail looking. But Soph has the biggest heart and internal motor I've ever seen. She was relentless today, and scored 2 goals, including one from her belly after being tripped up from behind. The reaction that girl caused on our bench and in the stands gives me tingles just thinking about it. To see someone achieve success after putting so much time and effort into something makes me very happy.
After the game we watched a little bit of the Squirt 1 game, and then had the Dohertys back to the house for pizza. John had to go and ref a game, but Maria, Thomas, and Hannah stayed and hung out into the evening. It was a great way to end a busy but fun weekend.
