ICE STORM

An ice storm left nearly 1/2 million homes in New England without power as trees toppled and branches sheered off from the weight of the ice, bringing down power and phone lines and leaving many without heat or connectivity to the outside world. Roads were rendered inaccessible, electric wires dangled dangerously in neighborhoods, and supermarkets, restaurants, and businesses were forced to close.

Temps at night dipped will into the 2o's and families were forced to find hotels, relatives, and friends to stay with. We have some guests as well and the kids have missed two days of school...so far. I like it when people rise to the occasion and deal with hardship and don't get angry for things they can't control, no matter how frustrating it may be (wrote the man who had electricity).

We were lucky enough to keep our power throughout (people around the corner were not as lucky) but phone, cable, and internet access just returned. The limb to the left fell like a dagger on where my liner would be sitting. That might as well have been straight through my heart! Thank goodness I 'took Mother Nature's first pitch."

Here are some pictures of the damage and the beauty that Mother Nature can bring.
