Hand Towels, Electrical Ties, and Water Proof Gloves

Cold Today (23 degrees)
Danny and I left for hockey practice at 9:15 and returned at noon and I noticed significant improvement. Only a bit of water came up over the edges when we walked on it.

Rink Rake
Debbie bought me a Rink Rake for Christmas. A Rink Rake is plastic pipe in the shape of an upside down "T", connected to a garden hose. At the bottom of the rake are small holes - every two inches - so that the water flows down the handle and out the bottom. It is used to resurface the rink after skating; much like a Zamboni at a real rink. I have modified it by placing hand towels from the bathroom (I'm telling you now Deb) at the bottom so that the towel spreads the water along the ice surface in an even manner. I used electrical ties to attach the towels. I have used the Rake twice this afternoon, and each time it smoothes out the pock marked surface a bit more. The fashionable, orange, waterproof gloves help keep my hands dry and warm.

Tonight?
Danny and I are going with the Dohertys and the Hansens to a Lowell Devils hockey game. Upon my return I hope to use the rink for the first time with Danny. It will be relatively late (9:30), and cold, but boy would that be fun. I will not mention it to him unless I think it will be "a go".

Thanks to everyone for their help. To those who are not quite there yet -hang in there.
