Slapper High!

The rink had a new skater on it today. Tim Holt grew up next door to us, and served a tour of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq as a U.S. Marine. Tim signed up for the Marines after September 11th, and recently completed the four years he signed up for -hence the Grizzy Adams look he is sporting. He is back in Chelmsford to visit family, but he and his wife Roxy, and their 3 children are living in North Carolina.

I knew Timmy would be a good Marine shortly after he had enlisted, but before he was shipped out. I was snow blowing my driveway, at night, completely unaware of anything other than the fact it was snowing. Apparently, Tim was taking cover and watching me behind lord knows what. He snuck up through the snow with my back turned, put his arm around my throat and whispered in my ear, "if I had a knife you'd be dead right now." While he was laughing, I nearly crapped my pants.

I had just gotten off the ice when Tim came out, but he and Danny skated for a little bit until supper time. I promised Timmy we'd come out to play another day. When we left the house after dinner to go to Danny's school for "Collector's Night" (Danny was showing his impressive collection of sports cards), Tim was still skating - ahem, falling - around. Nothing makes me happier than when the Millin Four-em is being used. Welcome home Tim. Semper Fi!

Note: Rapid Finishing won the first game of the playoffs tonight, 5-2. I think my legs were tired from all the skating I've been doing on my rink.
