Danny tried out for, and made the 9 year old summer league. He had his first game on Saturday; one of at least 3 games he will play this week as part of a city of Lowell tournament.
Chelmsford Maroon lost 6-3 but it was a good game. Danny got on base twice, knocked in a couple runs, and made a few outs while out in the field. He was also caught stealing. I was very proud of him for digging in at the plate. The pitchers absolutely hum it.
It is so different than regular town baseball he played this spring. It's very competitive and very intense. Part of me was reluctant to have Danny do it, but I think he is ready. John is the coach (Danny's previous hockey coach) so the emphasis is on trying your hardest and learning, and while Danny is not as aggressive as some of the other boys, he knows how to play the game. Besides, with his dad as the bench coach, he can't go wrong:
