When I was working in Boston many years ago, my boss Susan and I would sometimes drive in to work together. I remember Sue telling me how one day she had joined the Toastmasters on a whim. In addition to being a group of professionals that networked and socialized, the focus was on, naturally, making speeches. Afterwards, they would evaluate and constructively criticize each member's speech.
I always pictured an "I have a dream" or an "ask not what your country can do for you..." kind of speech being made. "How stressful that must be to come up with something that good every time," I wondered. When I write a blog I think, "I hope that both of the people who read this actually like it." I am sure my dad felt the stress of having to 'nail it' when writing a sermon for a Sunday morning -now that's pressure! Well here is a Toastmaster who actually made The Perfect speech:
