A Loss And A Gain

The Four-em ice has taken a beating. The snow, my subsequent shoveling, and the water that seeped up from the extra weight (and my falling through twice) really made it crappy. All the water and slush froze, but I had little boulders of ice, patches of snow, bumps, and an uneven ice surface all around.

I got home from a league game (we lost 4-3) at 10:30, and since the ice was now frozen solid again, I decided to do some maintenance. I shoveled, scraped, sweeped, and squeegeed. Then I hooked up the MIM (Millin Ice Machine) to a hot water hose, and flooded it good. I took my time and pushed the MIM back and forth so that the snow patches melted and the water flowed into crevaces and air pockets. And I'll be damned, but I think I gained the upper hand again.

It's late, I'm tired and old, and I'm going to bed.

This picture was taken this morning, after working on the ice last night. ..Not too shabby. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you can see some of the imperfections, but it's progress.
