Game 1, 8:00am vs. WIlmington

Lost 4-1

Summary
Wilmington is a very good team (they are in first place in the Dual State League) and this loss was not so frustrating because the Chelmsford Squirt 4's played very well. It is tough to get much offense going against a team that is as good as Wilmington is defensively, especially given their size, strength, and quickness. Chelmsford passed the puck well, skated hard, and played good defense. They 'wanted it', and as coaches, that's what we want to see.

Danny played defense and did a good job of pinching in their zone and fading back when necessary. He really understands the game's strategies and concepts. He had a couple of end to end rushes 'through the forest' (they have HUGE defensemen) but couldn't get a clean shot off. He also made some good passes up to his forwards. I am very proud of how he played today.

Apparently that wasn't enough skating for the boy, so Danny and I went out to the Four-em ice for an hour, before the sun got too strong. Deb brought us spaghetti outside and we gobbled it up and skated some more.

Then, this evening the Maxwells came over for a quick visit. It didn't take more than a few minutes before the kids were outside on the ice. No skates this time, just sleds and boots.

Becca pulls Auntie Tammy along the ice...before Tammy fell on the sled and smashed it to smitherines.

Emma and Becca take Danny on.

Uncle Yo hurts his back trying to keep up with Danny.

Boodles pastroodles plays goalie.

A family gathering and I wasn't even invited. Looks like fun was had by all - too dangerous for an old man like me.
