There's a litte bit of everything in today's blog. So belly up to the buffet and help yourself. I hope it's easy to digest, doesn't make you sick, and leaves you satisfied:
Deb's Last Day
She left this morning for work at 8am, and along with 40 to 50 other people, will hand in her badge, cell phone, and laptop and walk through the exit for the last time. It's tough to capture what the last 10 years have been like, but when she walks out that door she will take friendships and experiences that will stay with her forever. And that is the most important thing. She is sad, but it's time to move on.
Danny's Tournament
Chelmsford hosts the Presidents' Cup hockey tournament this weekend. Including a regular season game tonight, the Squirt 4's will play a minimum of 4 games in 3 days. Depending on how they do there will be one more game - for the championship.
I am going to do game summaries on the blog over the weekend, including a little blurb about Danny's play in each game. Anyone in the area who likes to go to the rink early in the morning, here is his schedule:
Tonight: 6:00pm vs Nashoba, Skate 3 Red Rink
Presidents' Cup Tournament Games
Game 1: Saturday, February 16th, 8:00am vs. Wilmington @ Tyngsboro Skate 3 Blue
Game 2: Sunday, February, 17th, 7:10am vs. Acton/Boxboro @ Chelmsford Forum
Game 3: Sunday, February 17th, 3:00pm vs. Team 4 @ Tyngsboro Skate 3 Red
The Rink's Last Stand?
I battled the elements this week and got the surface of the Four-em so that it's nice and smooth. But, like every other time it's been good this winter the weather changes drastically and now the temperatures are in the 40's. Danny and I went out this morning before school. Note his bus in the background.
I wonder if this will be "it" for this year...
Look at this kid. He's trying some crazy moves out there on the ice. I don't think he can pull it off in games, but it's fun to watch Danny be creative and have fun with a stick and a puck.
**Editor's note: He tried it tonight - after I had a conversation with him about how he should never do that during a game. I was so mad. His team was down 1-0 at the time and after he tried it they were still down 1-0.** There is no "I" in T-E-A-M.
The kids spent an hour outside on Tuesday, in the pouring rain, after getting 4-6 inches of snow overnight. Here they are across the street in the middle of the ball field.
